SummaryWith the expiry of MFA provisions in compliance with WTO rules ‐ substantial liberalization of the textile and apparel sectors has resulted in dramatic declines in the SSA textile and apparel trade, and the net beneficiaries have been China and Asian LDC countries. And yet AGOA has been the lifeline of the cotton, textile and apparel industry in SSA. Non‐extension of AGOA beyond 2015 spells doom for SSA cotton, textile and apparel sectors.
